Payment is declined

I cant seem to purchase anything from itunes, it just tells me that my payment method has been declined. I have tried for a few days now and have used the cards to buy other things and take cash from ATMs so i know they work. I have tried the debit card that has always worked up until last week and i have tried my credit card. Both cards have plenty of cash on them.

I have put in all my info about 10 times, i selected 'none' and then put the details in when requested and still get the same message. I have the latest version of iTunes.

I did use a £15 voucher which still has 78p on it and the problems seem to have started since then, i dont know if there is a connection of if thats just coincidence.

Has anyone else had this issue?

There is likely to be some issue with your payment method and/or an outstanding payment that needs to be resolved.

Visit https://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ww.

Choose your country.

Scroll all the way down and click Get support.

Click iTunes Store.

Start typing "Contact iTunes Store Support to complete this transaction" and click the suggestion when it appears.

That should get you through to this set of options. Pick one.

I'm having the exact same problem.

I also had a £15 itunes voucher that has 0.78p left on it and since then I'm unable to purchase anything.

When I check my payment details the only thing missing is the 3 digit security pin from the back of the card.

Re-entering this doesn't help.

Trying a different card hasn't worked.

I've left it over a week and nothing has changed.

Only thing I can suggest is to start a new account but that involves setting up a new email account - too much of a ballache.

Let me know if you find a solution.

Another thought.

If we only have 0.78p left on a gift card then any attempt to buy a single song means that itunes will try to take a payment of 0.01p from your account.

I'm guessing your card won't allow you to make a one penny purchase on it and this is why it's falling over.

Maybe if you try to buy an album instead of a single you will be able to make the purchase.

Anyway, I've submitted the query to itunes help and we'll see what they have to say.

I just talked to support about this (after going to a couple of different people)... I'm told that the reason for this is that some account (for no particular reason I'm told) have some features blocked to help prevent fraud on them. I was informed that my account should be fine within 24hrs as it takes time for the updates to flow through their systems.

Hopefully this resolves my issues.
