Laptop is on, but screen is black.

This morning I went to close the screen on my MBP while the computer was still on to put it in sleep mode, and as soon as I closed it, I remembered something I had to do and I opened back up quickly, and the screen was black. Absolutely no light whatsoever. All the buttons still work, and I shut down by holding the power button. I even tried removing the battery, but after all that, when the computer turns back on, the screen still won't work. Help please!

Have you tried to adjust the brightness of the screen?
Have you tried fn+F7 ?
Have you tried to reset the SMC?

I have the same problem with my MBP. I also have windows xp in it (used for work) so I boot from there and that works. I also know that I have problem with my battery because my computer just shuts down when it's not plugged in. I don't know if these problems are related. I bought my MBP in Jan 2007 and I upgraded to Leopard in Oct 2008. Please HELP! Thanks
