New Unibody 17" MBP. Background is vertical pink scintillating lines. Noticed this during setup, thought it might go away on OSx boot, but not so. Any ideas?

Thanks, apparently Apple support does read these threads. I received an unsolicited call from tech support asking me to send my laptop back in for repair. They were very professional, and helpful.
I REALLY dont want a repair job.. its a 3 day old laptop.. it will HAVE to be a replacement but I am praying its a firmware/software update that will solve it!
yeah.. i wish i had even known how to switch GFX cards.. i actually thought that you could set it to switch when you were on battery power and then on mains power.. It took me 3 days to load things onto the new machine.. then i saw the problem.
I just reset the SMC, and rebooted and its gone. What does that say?
Don't know. I tried that. Ran apple hardware test at boot-up (everything tested ok). I was going to load TechTool Pro and test it, though Apple Tech support called before I got to that step. Again, i think the issue is sporadic, but known (to tech support), and they are taking the appropriate steps to repair/replace the damage. In my small business, we have many pc's, (approximately 50) and tech support is never as prompt, and 'savy'.
