As a total newbie to Mac, as well as Garage Band and Logic Express 8, I cannot figure out exactly how to open Garage Band projects into Logic. Any tips?
Sorry I can't answer your question, but I'm having the same problem. You click File - Open and then change the File Type drop-down to Garageband Projects.
Whenever I do that and go to my folder of Garageband projects, they only display as grayed-out and unselectable.
Which makes my recently purchased new copy of Logic Express 8 absolutely useless.
Normally, you would simply drag a garageband project onto the Logic Express Icon in the Dock, and all should be opened, set and done. But i have Garageband iLife08 - maybe the new Garageband (iLife09) makes some trouble.
Thanks for that post. Coincidentally, just before reading your post above, I tried dragging Garageband files into the Logic icon on the dock and that worked. (Well, it certainly worked in terms of audio files - I didn't actually look to see if tempo information etc had all translated across as well. But I assume it all did.)
But just out of curiosity, can you actually open Garageband projects the way I described above - by File/Open/Garageband Projects - the way everybody in theory ought to be able to?
It is, after all,
supposed to have that functionality.
yes, it works for me. But there were some of similar problems in the early days of Logic 8. May it be you have installed Logic out of the box and didn't had any updates yet? In this case, i would strongly recommend the update to the latest versions of both Logic Expr. and Garageband.
