iTunes Not Working

"iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. The network connection timed out. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try again."

So iTunes does not work, but IE works. Along with iTunes, Mozilla Firefox does not work. I believe that they have the same problem for not working.

I am attempting to use the iTunes store to get things before I get my iTouch, just to be ready.

I ran diagnostics:

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Edition Service Pack 1 (Build 6001)
Dell Inc. Dell DM061
iTunes 8.0.2.20
QuickTime 7.6
FairPlay 1.1.11
CD Driver 2.0.7.5
CD Driver DLL 2.1.1.1
Apple Mobile Device 2.1.2.7
Bonjour 1.0.5.11 (118.5)

iTunes Serial Number D7A0FD30A7216FCB

The current local date and time is 2009-03-01 12:53:21.
iTunes is not running in safe mode.

How did you uninstall it? Some folks have reported that Control Panel > Add/Remove programs wasn't good enough - they had to use the Norton removal tool.

Did you just upgrade to itunes 8? Do the other family member user accounts still connect to the store OK, or are they now having problems, as well?
