Q: 5th gen iPod crashes with Kernel Failure when syncing
My 5th gen ipod started crashing upon sync last week. I took it to the Apple Store: they said it was a bad hard drive, and ordered me a new one. I got the new 5th gen home today and I'm still having the same problem! I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes TWICE. I do not have these issues with my nano or 1st gen touch. I am running itunes 8.0.2 on OS 10.4.11. The ipod software version on the 5th gen is 1.3.
My iMac generates an error report when the Ipod crashes. It is about 15 pages long, but the beginning looks like this:
Exception: EXCBADACCESS (0x0001)
Codes: KERNPROTECTIONFAILURE (0x0002) at 0x102ab6ce

I've also tried using every possible USB port, and even a different USB cable.
Any help at all is very much appreciated.
