If this is your old copy you used before, you do not need an authorisation code, because the first time you authorised the key enables LP6 to run, and that authorisation remains on the XSkey permanently.

If this is a copy you bought but never installed, you may be out of luck, as I very much doubt Apple will grant authorisation codes for such and old product - they'd expect you to buy a more recent version of Logic no doubt.

Authorisation codes are one-time and unique to your particular XSkey serial number - no one else's authorisations would work in any case.

****! I used to keep a copy of Logic6 on my computer for just this eventuality, but appear to have deleted it. Ive used Logic since v3 & first instald v6 2 or 3 computers ago & it worked fine throu every migration. ****! I was hoping any old serial would work.
To be honest, for what I use Logic for, which is mainly notated scores, Logic6 was better than Logic8. So youre telling me theyre now just dead files. Oyvey.

The program files are not the problem, you can download those. The issue is whether your XSkey is authorised to run LP6. If you ran it previously then you authorised it and it will still work. If you never authorised it, then you have no LP6 license on your XSkey, and cannot run it.

If you installed LP6 and used your key, then LP6 is authorised to run. I can't work out what you are saying, whether you authorised it, or not. If you never authorised this XSkey, then expecting to be able to get an authorisation code eight years down the line after the initial company was bought out, is probably expecting too much.

However, you could always phone Apple and ask.

I've got the same problem few weeks ago- suddenly Logic 7 stopped and asked for access code. so- at last in the morning I got that code from Apple support online, but that was nightmare all night long... Thanks God, I had that original installing CD's with challenge code.... :-))) With Logic 6 same story- there was offer to activize demos... And- I don't know, where are those mine original CD's... But, probably, if even I get them, seems, that there will not be support for Emagic product anymore... I am a user of Logic from 5th, with XSKey. Now- for music production I use L7, but for scoring L6, because in 7th- there are stil bugs for lyrics input in Latvian (Central EU). btw, lyrics in Logic 8 works fine again ,but for scoring me too- I prefer 6 or 7 (if without lyrics).

So- solution, that worked for me: I started those all demos, then after couple of weeks, I tryed to set my Mac's date few days erlier. Restarted, then open Logic6. I got message about shorteen of demo period for 7 days. I quited. Then set correct date. Restarted. Open Logic. Those demo dissapiered. I needed to do this one time more, because there was left demo just for Logic 6 Pro. Now I am lucky men again... :-)))
