Burning disc failes

Hi,

When burning with Burn Folder DVD's (DVD+R or DVD-R) and CD+/-R's I get the following error message: Burning the disc failed because an unexpected error occurred. (Error code 0x80022006E).

Then the disk ejects.

Using MacBook Pro, all updates installed, OS X 10.5.6

I tried restart and repairing the disc permissions, but it did not help. Also tried different disks, but still I ran into the same problem.

MacBook Pro, 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM, Mac OS X (10.5.6)

"tried restart and repairing the disc permissions"
Then try the +repair disk+ and repair permissions from your software install DVD. Restart your computer when done.

Make sure the DVDs are not dirty, smudged and/or scratched.

Your drive may need cleaning. Cleaning kits can be purchased from any store that sells CD/DVDs.

Just got this same error message on a Late-2008 Macbook.

+Burning the disc failed because an unexpected error occurred. (Error code 0x80022006E).+

When I try to use Toast (10) I get almost similar results:

+The drive reported an error:+
+Sense Key = MEDIUM ERROR+
+Sense Cocde = 0x0C+
+WRITE ERROR+

Going to try and repair permissions, will report back.

Hi there nickdynamite
My July 2007 17" MBP running 10.5.6 (with a three year Apple warranty) developed exactly the same problem this last week, in fact the optical drive suddenly stopped reading TDK and Phillips CD-R's and CD-RW's after 2 years of no problems!
After speaking by 'phone with an Apple techie I made a reservation with the Genius Bar at the White City Apple Store here in London. I explained the problem, I had reset the PRAM, SMC control, repaired permissions etc and the problem still wasn't fixed.
The 'genius' was sympathetic and said I had done everything I could, so the only option left was to replace the drive for me.
It pays to have AppleCare!
