Q: Swapping out the PSU on the MAC PRO. Help please?

I have a Dual Core 2.66ghz MAC PRO and am trying to find out how you swap the PSU out? I've found various YouTube video's and guides on how to install additional RAM and replace the CPU etc but can anyone help re: taking the PSU out?

Thanks,

MAC PRO (Dual core 2.66ghz model), Mac OS X (10.5.6)

    Hi-

    Welcome to Discussions!

First, you have to remove the hard drives and carriers, the optical drives and carriers and any PCIe cards.

Put the tower on its side, and remove the four 2.5mm hex screws from the underside of the media shelf.

Then, push down on the upper right corner of the PSU, and slide it forward.

Now, you can lift it out, but still have to disconnect the wiring harness. It is best to get a cloth to lay between the PSU and the tower, so that you can rest the PSU on the tower, without scratching, while you disconnect the 4 connectors of the wiring harness.

Start from the top, working down, depressing the latch, and releasing each of the 4 connectors.

Install of the PSU is in reverse of the above. Make sure the connectors, J1, J2, J3, (4 isn't marked) go into the appropriate PS1, PS2 PS3, and PS4

These four screw you talk of, do you have a picture so I know which four you mean? There are an awful lot of screens around that area / the PSU area. Thanks.

With the tower on its side, in the top row of screws, from the rear, remove the first and third screw.
Along the bottom, there are two screws that need to be removed. These two are the two below the row of four screws.
