Can someone help me with a resolution question

I've got a client that wants me to create a simple DVD slideshow for them.

I'm going to use FCPro and Motion to put a few bells and whistles in it.

The resolution of the tv says 720p on the box. After reading the instruction manual the manual lists these resolutions
VGA
640x480
720x400
SVGA
800x600
XGA
1024x768
WXGA
1280x768
1360x768

It doesn't list p or i for any of them. It also doesn't list pixel aspect ratio.

The TV is a Insignia NS-ltdvd32-09 32" LCD TV/DVD combo.

The manual also states that the ideal resolution for it is 1360 x 768. But again it doesn't say p or i or pixel aspect ratio.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to way to set my settings for inside of FCPro?

Thanks!

That make sense. duh.

So the resolutions listed in the manual for the TV are more for... hooking it up to a PC and using it as a monitor?

The built in DVD player is a Standard DVD player. What if they hooked a Blue Ray up to it externally. Then I would set up to be 1080x720p?

One last question. Should I format for progressive or interlaced graphics. Everything is completely generated with my computer. There is no video footage. So I was hoping to go progressive, 30fps.

Thanks.

Yes, those resolutions are for just that.

If they had a Blu-Ray player, you would burn it at 1280x720, but neither iDVD or SVD Studio Pro can burn Blu-Ray- your options are limited to Toast and Encore.

You should go with whatever your source framerate was. If you generated it on your computer, what framerate did you output to?

I was working at 30fps with no field order. I'm guessing that's the same thing as progressive. There was no real option to create a timeline that is based on Interlaced or progressive, but there was an option for field order. Upper, lower or none. I picked none.

I exported out to compressor utilizing their default: Best 90 minute DVD 1 pass. Which is MPeg2. I'm hoping it's still in progressive.

Thanks again.
