Song cannot be copied to the ipod because the song cannot be played on it

Hello. Ive recently just bought a 120 gig Ipod Classic, to replace my old 30g Ipod. For some reason whenever I try to load a song into my Ipod from my PC, it will say "<Song> cannot be copied to the ipod "<name of ipod> because it cannot be played on this ipod". When I try to load it into itunes, nothing happens. Is there anyway I can fix this?

Example, I transferred an album off of my old Ipod, and when I tried to load the album onto my new on it transfers every song except for 1 or 2 and displays that message.

Help is very appreciated!

itunes 8 is picky about the music it imports. If it detects anything 'wrong' with the file, it may not import it.

Try using the MP3 validator on some of the files that do not work. It is explained very well on this web page http://trevinchow.com/blog/tag/mp3-tag-validator/

I used this first on some songs that wouldn't play and after I used it, I was able to import them into itunes and play them. I'm slowly working through the process of using it to validate all my 12,000+ songs. I also had the problem of not being able to import CD's from my own collection.
