MP3 tag meta data

I have just spent a huge amount of time editing all the MP3 file tags, so i have a nice clean import into itunes. I edited over 1000 albums worth of data. After that was complete i re-imported my whole library, and it still came over looking like a dogs breakfast.

I know the tag editor i used works with ID3V2.3 do i have to set this in itunes before importing, so it knows the version and format that its coming over in? Does anyone have any ideas why tag data would look one way in a my tag editor and different in i-tunes?

You can't. iTunes by default uses v2.2 on CD it rips, and I always have to change them to v2.3.
iTunes does not change the version of existing MP3s you add.

Different software interprets the tags different ways. Kind of how different browsers interpret HTML tags different ways.

What tag editor did you use? Just curious.

Hi Kat, I see you mentioned MP3 Validator in the above post. I've tried it once and it seemed to have choked on the 800 mp3's I gave it. I scanned 2/3 of them but it appeared to just stop. IDK.
Does right-clicking on a song in iTs and selecting Convert ID3 Tags and converting them that way would be the same as the MP3 Validator?

yes, that's what I do.

I've never had MP3 Validator scan that many. I am cautious using freeware willy-nilly on my library. I've only used it on certain tracks I suspect to have problems.
