The disk you are attempting to use is full

i installed iTunes 8 for Windows today. my library - and all playback functions are normal.

whenever:
1. i try to download an iTunes Store purchase
2. i try to import a CD into iTunes, or
3. my iTunes Library File tries to autosave ...

i receive a message that says: "The disk you are attempting to use is full." however, the disk in question (an external drive) has over 200GB of free space - and is functioning normally.

i have:
1. uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes
2. saved files to this disk (external drive)using other apps
3. exported files to the external drive from iTunes to make sure they are "talking to each other"
4. tried every Windows Vista Home Premium troubleshooting recommendation from the online support database ...and nothing works.

does anyone have any ideas?

That sounds odd. Perhaps it could wonky Vista permissions? Are you sure you have ownership and FULL control over the root exHD and all its subfolders?

As a workaround, you could temporarily change the location of your itunes music folder (edit > preferences > advanced tab) and see if it will DL to C:
But be careful, if there is a message from itunes about moving your folders to match the updated location, say NO.
