Hi, My scratch disk is an external hard drive (just powered by USB not outlet) and my QuickTime conversion exports always take nearly an hour, even if it is a short video. However I do have an AVCHD camera. What is the cause for this? It is really annoying.
iMac Intel 1.83 GHz, Macbook (Aluminum) 2.0 GHz,
Mac OS X (10.5.6)
The power doesn't matter. It's the USB connection that matters. There may be other things going on, but without details of the original media and what's happening in the sequence and your export settings it's hard to tell.
Not much you can do then. You will not get great performance because of that. How long's your video? Is everything in the timeline rendered out? Exactly what format and specs are you exporting to?
