Hoefler Text Ornaments

I am trying to use Hoefler Text Ornaments font but it it doesn't seem to be accessible.

Do Edit > Special Characters, View = Glyph, and choose Hoefler Text Ornaments for the font. Double click on the glyph to input.

Doesn't work for me. I can see the font there. I am trying to use the font in a MS Word document.

If by chance you are using the obsolete Word X, it's not possible, you will need to use another app.

Otherwise, make sure that the font for Word is also set to Hoefler Text Ornaments.

Try in TextEdit to verify that the font is OK.

I use FontExplorer Pro. Double clicking on the font (Hoefler Text Ornaments) brings up an info box showing that it is a Data Fork True Type font with about 50 characters. The apple logo (this is an Apple font) is the only character with a defined keystroke, the rest do not have a keystroke assigned to them.
I can copy and paste the others into textedit but not into Mac Office 2008. The other 31 fonts in the Hoefler family are text and work as should.
Hoefler Fleurons (one of the Hoefler family) has some characters that might be some interest to you, and they have assigned keystrokes.

PS Here's something which indicates that Ornaments did work in Word X (contrary to what I said) but will not work in Word 2004. Probably the same for 2008.

I can't set the font to Hoefler Ornaments in Word, I can select it but it doesn't stick.
On the other hand, In Illustrator the font works fine.
I can paste characters into OmniGraffle.
I got the character into Word by rasterizing the character in Illustrator and then copy/paste into Word.
Ugly way of doing this.

If you have some kind of font preview program you can copy and paste.

Interesting. Are you able to set the font in Word to Hoefler Text Ornaments, or does it not let you choose that?
