Solo button has red slash through it

All of a sudden one of my audio tracks won't play. On the channel strip it has a slash through the solo button but not in the inspector. I was able to find out that that is supposed to be solo safe mode? Not sure how that got that way but I can't seem to get the audio track to play again. Any suggestions?

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.6)

Yep, solo-safe mode. Control-click the solo button.

But - this might be symptomatic of something else. Did you by any chance delete the "Prelisten" channel strip in Logic's mixer/environment? Or is it still there? (It should be.)

This is most likely the "hunting fo a pre-listen channel" issue.

Have you deleted the audio channel called "Prelisten"? If this gets deleted (Logic needs it to play apple loops and the sample editor through) then it picks an available audio channel object to use as a prelisten channel, and solo-safes it.

I have that red slash thru the solo button on a track as well. WhenI click control click the button, and save the song, the slash disappears. But only until I close the song. When I reopen the song the solo lock is back on?????????

For some reason things are working again. I had a scratch audio track that was dead after I had done some copying and pasting of software instruments. The only thing that looked out of the normal was the red slash through the solo button in the channel strip. Now it is working and the red slash was still through the solo button. I have since control clicked on the solo button to remove the red slash but not sure why I had no audio before. I'm copying and pasting between 10 projects and had a few strange things happen. Thanks for the reply.

Got it!!!!!!!! AAAAAAhhh, that's why it chooses it to be the last audio channel in the set up!!!!
Thanks!!!!! I've created an additional channel to cover that function!
