Apple TV--->Denon AVR-4306

I am trying to hook up my Apple TV to my Denon AVR-4306 Receiver and have not been able to get any audio or visual on my Pioneer Plasma TV. I hooked the Apple TV up via HDMI to the HDMI input # 3 and I assigned Input VCR-2 to HDMI input 3. When I go to VCR-2 input I have no audio or visual. Can someone please help me out with your suggestions. I am pretty new at this so I really appreciate any assistance.
