Epson WF600 w/AP Express

I just bought a new multifunction Epson WorkForce 600 w/wifi capability. I've installed and re-installed the drivers but can't get the printer to work w/my PowerBook G4. I can add the printer (did), have gone back and tried all the work arounds/fixes that Epson recommends but my Mac won't talk to the printer when I actually go to print or scan. The printer does scan, copy, and print w/o my computer. I haven't connected it to my computer w/a USB as I don't have one! I bought it to use wirelessly. My computer works fine with my HP 4100 seemlessly w/the USB. I'm away from home and the HP, hence the reason for not having a USB cord at this time. Any thoughts? I'm using Leopard 10.5.6 w/power PC G4.

Don't know what kind of router you have, but this may help:

I just bought an Epson Artisan 800 and figured out how to get it to connect wirelessly (I have a DLink wireless router and learned some time ago that I had to enter the MAC address of any device I wanted to have work with the router):

1. First I set it up according to their instructions/install CD with a USB cable connected to my iMac.
2. Once it was all functioning, I checked under "Network Settings" on the printer and copied the MAC address and printer's name as listed.
3. Went online to DLink and entered the printer's name and MAC address and assigned an IP address.
4. Turned on printer, connected it to the router (was recognized immediately), and followed directions in Epson's Network install guide installing driver on my Macbook Pro.
5. Able to print test page / works great with both Macs.
6. One disappointment: Epson Scan does not work wirelessly - must be connected via USB cable.

Add: oops, I just realized you have an airport extreme - I've never had one, but maybe it also requires adding the MAC address in order to recognize it?

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond. I'm afraid I don't know how to add a MAC address to my Airport. It's the "Express" rather than the "Extreme" so now I'm wondering if this printer just isn't going to work with the Express. Since my first post I have installed everything successfully on my computer but the printer just won't print. I've added it and it appears (as its IP number instead of a name) in my printer list but the communication error message just keeps coming up. I've tried talking to Epson support but their language skills are so poor I got nowhere. I'm getting ready to take it back. I'm more than disappointed as I really wanted to be able to print wirelessly. If anyone else has some ideas, I'd sure be grateful for your input. Thanks again, Barbara!

Thanks again for trying to find an answer for me. I have now downloaded the Gutenprint driver as suggested by someone in another similar thread. Download was successful but I don't know how to "set up" my printer to correspond to the new driver. No instructions in the download info so, again, I'm still not having any luck. Discouraged would be a good description for me! I'm using a Mac Powerbook G4 with Leopard 10.5.6.

I guess it's time for the "last resort" - send Epson an email detailing what is not working and you'd appreciate an answer how to make it work. They're usually a bit slow in answering emails, but usually (at least in my case) have come up with the right idea. I've also learned from reading posts here over time that quite a few non-Apple products are either not compatible or difficult to sync/make them work with airport, so the cheapest way would be to get a third party router - you could buy it at a store with a good return policy, try it and if it doesn't work, take it back. As I had said, I had absolutely no problem with the Epson and my DLink router - it was recognized instantaneously.
