Wireless Mighty Mouse Pointer not moving

Try deleting a preference file (com.apple.safari.plist) and restarting.

If that does not work, take the mouse to an Apple store (or call Applecare) for diagnosis and repair/replacement (it is still in warranty).

Searcher 76: please let me know if that works. I have abandoned my Apple Bluetooth Mighty Mouse because it started doing (or not doing) exactly what you describe. Scroll and click work fine, tracking not at all. I am now using a Logitech wireless which works great but looks awful.

The preference file I listed should have been com.apple.bluetooth.plist.

I was apparently brain dead with my previous post!

Barry: really appreciate your help, but I tried to find that file (com.apple.bluetooth.plist) last night and no luck. I typed the file name into the search box at the top right and Finder did not find any such file. Is that possible, or do I need to change a preference setting?

Hi Rich:

That file is located in Macintosh HD>library>preferences. Sometimes (rare, but it happens) preference files become corrupted - causing all sorts of odd behavior.

If that does not help, try resetting the PRAM:

If that does not fix the problem, take the mouse to an Apple store or call Applecare and indicate you have a warranty issue. Apple does replace things under warranty at no cost (shipping paid both ways). I have had a mouse and keyboard replaced in the past and was pleased with the service.
