How to restore passcode locked iPhone?

Hi,

For no apparent reason my phone stopped working...so I did a reset and got the message 'Restore Needed'. I connected to iTunes and got this message: 'iTunes could not connect to the iPhone because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on your iPhone before it can be used with iTunes'.

The problem is, I can't enter my passcode because I'm not given that option on the iPhone. All I seem to be able to do is make an emergency call.

It's been working fine otherwise. Any suggestions?

This is the SECOND replacement iPhone I've had this week and I'm getting a bit fed up.

Have u ever changed that passcode? If no, try this one 1234, that is the default.

I'm not able to enter any passcode. The passcode screen doesn't come up on my phone.

I'm having exactly the same problem, although I didn't do a reset before the problem started. Followed support pages which included doing a reset and reinstalling iTunes but no joy. Think I'm gonna call Apple.

Same thing happened to me. The phone wouldn't connect to the net via 3G so I restarted it, then it said it needed a restor.

Hold down the power & home button until the Apple logo appears, then release only the power button - keep the home button pressed until iTunes prompts to restore.

That did it for me. iTunes was asking for passcode but the iPhone wasn't displaying the passcode entry keypad.

For some unknown reason, my IPhone stopped working and said I had to restore it. When I opened ITunes, it said I needed to enter my passcode. I followed the suggestion of rebooting and then trying to restore. When I tried to restore, the ITunes gave me an error message 23. Now what do I do?

I did follow the instructions in a previous reply that allowed me to unlock the phone. HOwever, I couldn't get the phone to restore and had to get a replacement at the Apple store. The "genius" said that for some unknown reason, my software got corrupted and because I had Applecare, they replaced the phone.

Go into DFU mode and it should be fine.
You will need to restore your phone from a backup.
