HD monitoring with HP DreamColor LP2480zx Professional LCD

I am new to HDV editing using Final Cut Pro and want to set up an editing system. Does anyone have experience with HPHP DreamColor LP2480zx Professional LCD monitor? Does HDMI input mean this monitor will display High Definition picture? What kind of resolution does a monitor need to provide for monitoring HD? How do you get Final Cut Output to HDMI?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.6), 2.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo - 2GB RAM

Yes...but a monitor doesn't need HDMI in to display an HD picture. HDMI is a consumer connection. Professional connections are SDI and Component. HDMI was invented for consumer electronics.

1920x1080. Most 24" computer monitors are 1920x1200, and are capable of displaying an HD image. But the question is, a COLOR CORRECT HD image?

How do you get Final Cut Output to HDMI?

Via third party hardware. Decklink Intensity and Intensity Pro and HD Extreme cards, Matrox MXO2, AJA I/O HD.

Personally, no. But I have heard that via Component and HDMI is doesn't hold up compared to true HD LCD monitors that are designed as production monitors. This one was designed as a COMPUTER monitor...and as that it does well. But computer monitors aren't designed for broadcast HD monitoring. But I'd like to see this monitor connected to a Matrox MXO...

"HDMI is a consumer connection."
What does this REALLY mean? What makes HD SDI better?

"Professional connections are SDI and Component."
My experience is that HDMI beats analog component clearly.

"Personally, no."
Personally yes. A few days a go I put Dreamcolor LP2480ZX (~1700eur) side by side with Sony LMD-2450W (~5100eur) Professional HD monitor. The picture quality was the same. HP had better viewing angle and deeper black. There was no difference in the movement.
I had DVCProHD material and MXO2 can output from HDMI and HD SDI connections at the same time.

"This one was designed as a COMPUTER monitor.."
This one was designed to work as a VIDEO monitor also.

"But I'd like to see this monitor connected to a Matrox MXO..."
You would be surprised. I was.
