Flash Plugin Causes Crashes...

Repair your disk from your install disc. To use the Install Mac OS X disc, insert the disc, and restart your computer while holding down the C key as it starts up.
Select your language.
Once on the desktop, select Utility in the menu bar.
Select Disk Utility.

Select the disk or volume in the list of disks and volumes, and then click First Aid.
Click Repair Disk.


How much hard drive space do you have left?

It has been suggested before to use Adobe's Flash uninstaller then reinstall the latest update. It has been my experience that updates may leave various older versions (files) here and there which could muck it up. Worth a try

Repairing your disk & repairing permissions are 2 different things. Especially when done with the system or install discs.

Your post did not mention that you did either with the discs.

Have you checked your Console logs? You may have Safari crash logs. If not look in system logs in a certain time frame when problem occurred. Post any relevant info here. Many here are able to decipher them and then we go from there.

I have the same problem as mentioned above when playing flash video, only in my case, the OS freezes up totally and the mac needs to be rebooted by holding the power button. It does not crash on every flsah movie though, just when it feels like it i guess.

I thought it was a safari problem at first, i removed safari and installed firefox. I also tried upgrading to the newest flash version. The problem occured just now again, about 2:50 into this video http://tinyurl.com/d9q25j

I just got a new macbook pro last week that has this problem, so am very curious if this is somehow a hardware issue of this model? This is about the only description of my problem i could find that comes close. My OS is about as clean as they come at this point, only iLife and iWork installed. And perian.

I will now try removing and reinstalling the flash pluggin as mentioned above and update if anything changes for me. I am not getting error reporst after I boot the system so i have nothing to post in that area.

I am getting exactly the same problem, I have tried removing Firefox completely and uninstalling flash and then doing a fresh re-install of everything and no luck, really odd as my home mac is fine but my work machine running the same settings doesn't work, this has all started happening since installing Flash CS4

I have now removed Flash CS4 as i only downloaded the trial version, currently using CS3 suite, the crashing happens in both safari and firefox on any page with any flash element, i have to force quit the application, I have currently disabled the plug in to enable browsing but its quite important i get it to work as my job as a web designer relies on my ability to view my work! 🙂

i have the same flash player (10) running in my virtual machine (running windows XP) with no problems, so something must of happened when installing cs4 on my mac?

I have also repaired all permissions etc and done a disk check but to no avail.

I had this problem with Safari crashing on pages with some embedded flash videos. I found Firefox 3 and NetNewsWire also crashed at some flash. I tried uninstalling Flash Player (using Adobe's tool) and reinstalling it and that didn't help. I then tried Repair Permissions run from the install disk and that didn't help. I then found that from another account the same webs pages worked fine in Safari so it must have been something with my account. I didn't have any user plugins or InputManagers installed. I did find a solution though. I removed the folder /Users//Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash Player/ while no browsers were running and then restarted Safari and the pages displayed fine without crashing.
