Last summer I bought by 1.6GHz Macbook Air. It was running perfect for the first few months. But now i is freezing up constantly every day. Sometimes it would run perfect. But then it would slow up even when doing the simplest tasks. I would be watching a video on YouTube and everything would get slow. Even the dock would move extremely slow when I mouse over it. Any suggestions?
Suggest you do an archive and install of the OS. Looks likes there's some files that are slowing your computer down. Re-install the OS is possibly the only and the best way.
It's "normal" MacBook Air operations... if you open Activity Monitor, you're likely to find that a task named "kernel_task" takes most of the computing power.
I have installed the famous Coolbook, and while it removed the kernl_task, the MacBook Air is still extremely slow. There's really no fix.
The same happened to my MBA about a month ago, after last updates and installing Safari 4! Something is not right as for almost a year my MacBook Air worked perfectly well. Now it takes up to a minute to open a web page, or when you press "Reply" to an email in Mail, it "thinks" for up to a minute with this little colorful circle rotating, and so on...
It is either the Apple MacBook Air updates, or Safari, or the AirPort Extreme updates. But definitely smth is wrong as it appeared out of the blue at the beginning of March.
