Importing mails to Thunderbird from .dbx files

Hi people,

I bought a Mac after my old Windows-based laptop died. I've copied the contents of my old hard drive across to my Mac, so I have all my .dbx files from Outlook Express, which I used to use. Since getting the Mac, I have started to use Thunderbird. How can I upload all the mails from the various .dbx files I have to Thunderbird, preferably keeping the original timestamps?

Perhaps best to do this on your Windows machine, then move the resulting files to your Mac?

Ah, but the Windows machine (a Vaio) is dead and gone. All that has survived is the hard drive, which I since connected to the Mac. How can I do this without the Vaio? Thanks for your help!

Hmmm... that makes it tougher. Got any friends who could help? I'm not seeing any options for native import of .dbx files on the Mac without buying a product.

Any chance that these files are still on a server (I'm assuming not).

I think your best chance is to borrow a PC, put Thunderbird on it, import, then export. You might be able to do that with CrossOver or with a demo version of Windows, too.

Thanks for this. What is Crossover? Could I try that on my Mac?

Is it possible to convert this files to Mbox files, so that Thunderbird recognises them?

Could doing this via Entourage help in some way?
