Usb problem connecting to Guitar-link

Hi,

I have problems connecting my USB Guitar-link(Behringer UCG102) when its suposed to work rigth away. In the manual it says:
Powered via USB- No additional power supply required. And that I do not need any drivers for mac.

But when I connect it I get this weird message on the screen (!):

USB Over Current Notice
A USB device is currently drawing too much power.
The hub to which it is attached to will be deactivated.

Do anywone no what the problem is??

Hi, Spraymond, and welcome to Apple Discussions. Your device requires more power than the MBP's USB port can provide, so the port is being shut down to protect it from burning out. Because I've seen nothing to indicate that MBPs are substandard in their ability to provide USB bus power (as all Powerbook G4s are), I suspect that your guitar device doesn't comply with the USB bus power standard of 500mA per port. If I were you, I would connect an AC-powered USB hub to the MBP and plug the guitar device into the hub. That should enable it to draw sufficient power for its needs from the AC adapter, rather than from the MBP.

Hi Spraymond
I made a similar experience connecting my measurement device for calibrating the display (eye one pro). It only works, if I connect it via a hub with extra power supply. Than everything is fine.
As I have no problem connecting my wacom tablet, I guess that the USB supplies a little less power than before, probably because of battery runtime.
regards
