Autofill any iPod feature in 8.1

Does anyone know more about this Autofill any iPod feature in iTunes 8.1? I haven't downloaded the new version yet. I'm kinda like "Wait & See" approach.

Toshiba Notebook 2 GIGs DDR2, Windows Vista, Apple iPod (my first iPod: 4th Gen - 20 GB) (iPod Classic 160 GB)

Supplementary question - does anyone know how to turn it off please? I'm never going to need it, and it's taking up screen real estate when browsing through my iPod music.

Martin, the only way to turn it off is to uncheck "Manually manage music" on the iPod summary tab.

Garth, it explains it in the itunes help - you can have it autifill from your entire library or a certain playlist; choose random items or those more highly rated; and completely replace items or just some.

What do you mean by taking up real estate when browsing through my iPod music.?

I haven't tried to install v8.1 yet. I've only read a few feature upgrades and this was one of them. I just was just interested in ppls opinions and how it worked without finding out first hand.
