Bluetooth keyboard and mouse stop responding

Situation: Brand new MacBook Pro 17" unibody, 2.93GHz, 4GB RAM, glossy display. I have paired an Apple wireless keyboard (older model, white plastic not aluminium) and Apple wireless mouse with the MBP. Accounts, applications and files migrated with Migration Assistant from older MBP 17".

Problem: Keyboard and mouse become unresponsive very often. Bluetooth indicates that both devices are still paired and connected but nether mouse nor keyboard activity registers with the MBP. Turning Bluetooth off, then back on seems to re-establish the working connection.

Has anybody else been experiencing this problem. I know, on the previous MBP and on an MB that I still use, if the keyboard batteries become very low, connection with the mouse is sometimes lost. This is not the case here, though. The batteries in both devices still display green.

I have the same problem with a NEW MBP 17inch and a wireless mighty mouse. I have gone through several representatives and they all say it's the bluetooth module. However, I doubt it! It's less than a week old. I think it has something to do with people asking for either a faster processor or a faster drive. Which means it's not the standard Mac. Probably, that means they open it up and install these things and when they are doing this, they don't do it right and the BT wire or whatever is short-circuiting inside the computer. Not really pleasant if you ask me!

Updating to 10.5.7 didn't do anything for me. Changing Wireless Mighty mouse wasn't helpful either! Apple ***** for not knowing about this issue with their hardware engineers not doing their jobs properly and each time you call, they act as if this is an isolated issue. Sounds like it's not!

Well I guess this is quite a problem because I live on Oahu (Hawaii) and the Mac I bought has the same mystery problem with the BT. In fact I bought a 13" Macbook "Pro?" before this one where the BT icon completely disappeared and would not launch any where on the system. I had to do a PRAM reboot to make the Mac recognize it again. Now the 15" Macbook drops the mouse BT at least once daily. This is off the subject of the thread but I noticed on both models that I can hear the hard drive working in a quiet room. Where as the white Macbook 3,1 I had made no noise other than the cooling fan and inserting/ejecting a disk. Apple, fix the BT but regardless I love my MBP 15" uni.

I am a one month owner of a 15 unibody MBP and have this issue also. I exchanged my wireless mighty mouse and still have this the problem. My solution is to turn off bluetooth on the top menu and turn it back on. Takes less than a minute but it is still very a annoying. I didn't bother calling Apple after calling them to say my mouse was bad. They told me I had to return it to Best Buy since it was not bought from them directly. This is my first contact with Apple and Mac's and this doesn't give me a great feeling to start with. I hope they get this fixed soon. I take it they do fix this kind of thing pretty quickly unlike Windblows right?

Love the Mac so far, trying to figure it all out still.

I installed the bluetooth firmware update on my Macbook Pro and since then have noticed better connectivity with my Apple Bluetooth keyboard as it doesnt seem to drop out of sync as often now.

On the other hand, I have a Microsoft 5000 Bluetooth mouse and ever since the update the mouse cursor has been super laggy when using the mouse. I used to experience the cursor lag with a bluetooth Mighty Mouse I previously had.
