If you launch System Preferences - User Account - Click on your user, then click on Login Items Tab
Do you see iTunesHelper in the list? Is it checked? if it is uncheck it & restart the Mac. Once you are backup and running launch iTunes.
You may also wish to uninstall and reinstall iTunes.
You do not have to delete your iTunes Folder. You can skip past that step as it will include your iTunes Music data that you want to keep.iMac Intel, iPhone, iPod, Mac Book Pro, Zune, Aspire 6920, Mac OS X (10.5.6), Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows Vista SP1, Windows Vista 64 bit SP1

Downloads and reinstalls of iTunes automatically include it.
There should also be a .plist file for it in ~user/Library/PreferencesiMac G5 17" 1.5Gb RAM, Mac OS X (10.4.11)
