Not Counting Cover/Title Page in Page Count

I have the page number and page count in the footer of my document. That is with the exception of the title/cover page. Everything is as desired, except the page count includes the title/cover page. I've tried using a section break on the title/cover page, but the page count still counts the title/cover page. How do I keep this from happening?

For example, my document is 15 pages, including the title/cover page. My page of page count starts on the second page as 1 of 15. How do get it to show 1 of 14?

Brie: I have this problem too - so thanks for the helpful tip. However I have scoured the Pages 09 help documentation and completely failed to find any mention of how I might insert 'section page count' into a document. Could you either give me directions here, or point me to where in the help documentation I might find this instruction?

By way of clarification - I have worked out how to 'reset' the page number itself in each section. What I am trying to do is insert 'page count' that counts the pages in the section, not the whole document (including the cover page).

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Gavin: I had the same problem. It seems that many of features and settings of the Pages app can only be accessed through the inspector palette. If the inspector palette is not visible, you can make it appear by selecting it in the view menu. Then click on the second icon at the top of the palette (it's called 'layout inspector' when your mouse hovers over it). Here you can de-select "Continue from previous section" and enter a page number that you wish the page numbering of the current section to start at. I agree it's not intuitive, but there it is.

Thanks for the suggestion. But (at least on my system) what you suggest only changes the page numbers - so you can start a section on any arbitrary number you like - but changing this number doesn't change the value reported by 'total page count' - which remains the total number of pages including any cover page / other sections. What I would like would be in (say) section 3 to show the page numbering being from 1 through X, with the footer saying 'page 1 of X'. Right now I get 'page 1 of <total of all pages in doc>'. To fix this I have to manually set the 'number of pages' value - which is fine until you edit the section and the page count changes, and you have to remember to edit the footer etc.

Any ideas how you might persuade Pages to report section page count?
