"Windtunnel G4" MDD Noise Issues

Hi, I just got a "r0306c Apple PowerMac G4 Dual CPU 867MHz 80GB 512MB RAM" MDD computer & it's really noisy. Later, I read this off of wikipedia:

"The models were noted for their noisiness, earning them the unofficial designation "Windtunnel G4" in some circles. Noise complaints became such a problem that Apple later replaced the machine's power supply (PSU) and primary cooling fan with quieter versions, and initiated a voluntary do-it-yourself (DIY) replacement scheme for all previously sold machines."

Can anyone point me to where I find information on how to make it quieter or explain to me how to do it? Thanks, I appreciate it.

Hi-

Welcome to Discussions!
Here are some resources of information and How to's:

Finding and installing a 360W MDD PSU is a quick way to reduce the noise.
But, as you see from the articles linked, DIY fan replacement is possible, and helpful.

WARNING: If you choose to replace the fans in the PSU, be extremely careful, as careless handling can deliver a life threatening shock.

Besides the PSU fans, the main case fan should be replaced with a quieter unit.
The 120mm x 120mm x 38mm fan needs to be of at least 90CFM.
