Mar 17, 2009 2:49 AM in response to soul on iceby Bengt Wärleby,Hi
Well Tutorial way is one. I don't do like this. I figured that many strange
file formats gets my iDVD (and iMovie) to ill behave.
I don't use .mp3 or iTune direct move into neither iDVD or Imovie. I first make
audio to .aiff - always.
• In iTunes I copy out as an Audio CD .aiff (standard to play in any player)
Then use this .aiff music in my projects.
(Video the same - never .avi, .wmv, .mpeg4, .mpeg2, .mpeg1 etc. - only stramingDV
.mov files)
This gives me very many working movies and DVDs.

Mar 17, 2009 4:15 PM in response to soul on iceby Beverly Maneatis,Try this:
Saw this in a post by randijim:
+1. Open the menu where you are having audio problems+
+2. Click on the drop zone icon to open the drop zones+
+3. Move the music (the iTunes music notes) that you've placed here out of the menu box+
+4. By getting the music icon out of the way, you will reveal a tiny black sound/audio icon+
+5. If you strain your eyes and look real close you will see that there are no sound waves coming out of the sound icon+
+6. Click on the icon and tiny black sound waves will appear+
+7. You have now "unmuted" your menu+
+8. Drop your music selection back into the menu drop zone+
+9. You now have sound!+
Post back if this does not help. -
Jun 8, 2009 3:25 AM in response to Beverly Maneatisby aiki,There is a bug with the menu sound. If you put a song to play on the menu that has a default tune already it sometimes mutes all menu sound. Strangely if you drag out the song you put in the Audio menu you see the default tune there again, and if you delete that and put in another tune it is still muted. Again delete the tune and the default is back. Somehow its not deleting the default and a conflict seems to arise. -
Jul 13, 2009 9:17 AM in response to Beverly Maneatisby alice_srq,I was having this problem too. Beverly's instructions solved the problem although I have to confess I never saw the sound waves (and I squinted real hard). I just clicked then dropped my music selection. Voila. Thanks Beverly and thank heavens for these forums. -

Jul 28, 2009 4:53 PM in response to Naveen Singhby Nick Bachur,I tried Beverly's method but it did not work for me. So, in desperation, I tried something else that did.
I finished an iMovie HD movie that I launched into iDVD v 7.0.3 with no problems until I tried to put audio into the menu. My audio is an .aiff file that I made from open sound. When I moved the aiff file from the audio menu to the drop zone menu frame, the aiff file was deposited but NO sound came when the menu was played. I could see the aiff file in the drop zone menu frame but no sound. So, I tested several other aiff and other sound files in the menu frame but no sound. All the sound files played fine when tested. Next, I found this discussion forum and followed Beverly's method to no avail. I could not see any sound waves in the menu frame although I saw the black speaker which changed when a sound file was deposited. No amount of clicking the file worked. I was getting stressed.
I closed the drop zones and opened the MAP button to see the layout of chapters and a menu frame. Out of desperation, I dragged the aiff file to the menu frame and had a green + and took the file. I tried the video and the sound came out of the menu playing well.
So folks, a new way around the glitch in iDVD. -

Thanks for posting your helpful solution to drop the audio file into the box in Map view.
I think there are other posts about losing audio in iDVD with a recent update to iMovie 9. So far, no 'fix' has been identified.
