Code popping-up when replying

When I reply (and reply all) to a mail I get the code at the top of my mail eg:

<!-- /* Font Definitions */ @font-face {font-family:Wingdings; panose-1:5 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0;} @font-face {font-family:Tahoma; panose-1:2 11 6 4 3 5 4 4 2 4;} /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman";} a:link, span.MsoHyperlink {color:blue; text-decoration:underline;} a:visited, span.MsoHyperlinkFollowed {color:purple; text-decoration:underline;} p.MsoAutoSig, li.MsoAutoSig, div.MsoAutoSig {margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman";} span.EmailStyle18 {mso-style-type:personal; font-family:Arial; color:windowtext;} span.EmailStyle19 {mso-style-type:personal; font-family:Arial; color:navy;} span.EmailStyle20 {mso-style-type:personal-reply; font-family:Arial; color:navy;} @page Section1 {size:8.5in 11.0in; margin:1.0in 1.25in 1.0in 1.25in;} div.Section1 {page:Section1;} /* List Definitions */ @list l0 {mso-list-id:380708513; mso-list-type:hybrid; mso-list-template-ids:-1066868142 1276290846 67698691 67698693 67698689 67698691 67698693 67698689 67698691 67698693;} @list l0:level1 {mso-level-start-at:0; mso-level-number-format:bullet; mso-level-text:-; mso-level-tab-stop:.5in; mso-level-number-position:left; text-indent:-.25in; font-family:Arial; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"; color:windowtext;} @list l0:level2 {mso-level-tab-stop:1.0in; mso-level-number-position:left; text-indent:-.25in;} @list l0:level3 {mso-level-tab-stop:1.5in; mso-level-number-position:left; text-indent:-.25in;} @list l0:level4 {mso-level-tab-stop:2.0in; mso-level-number-position:left; text-indent:-.25in;} @list l0:level5 {mso-level-tab-stop:2.5in; mso-level-number-position:left; text-indent:-.25in;} @list l0:level6 {mso-level-tab-stop:3.0in; mso-level-number-position:left; text-indent:-.25in;} @list l0:level7 {mso-level-tab-stop:3.5in; mso-level-number-position:left; text-indent:-.25in;} @list l0:level8 {mso-level-tab-stop:4.0in; mso-level-number-position:left; text-indent:-.25in;} @list l0:level9 {mso-level-tab-stop:4.5in; mso-level-number-position:left; text-indent:-.25in;} @list l1 {mso-list-id:775444850; mso-list-type:hybrid; mso-list-template-ids:-1713634736 -1189590146 67698691 67698693 67698689 67698691 67698693 67698689 67698691 67698693;} @list l1:level1 {mso-level-start-at:0; mso-level-number-format:bullet; mso-level-text:-; mso-level-tab-stop:.5in; mso-level-number-position:left; text-indent:-.25in; font-family:Arial; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";} @list l1:level2 {mso-level-number-format:bullet; mso-level-text:o; mso-level-tab-stop:1.0in; mso-level-number-position:left; text-indent:-.25in; font-family:"Courier New";} @list l1:level3 {mso-level-number-format:bullet; mso-level-text:\F0A7; mso-level-tab-stop:1.5in; mso-level-number-position:left; text-indent:-.25in; font-family:Wingdings;} @list l1:level4 {mso-level-tab-stop:2.0in; mso-level-number-position:left; text-indent:-.25in;} @list l1:level5 {mso-level-tab-stop:2.5in; mso-level-number-position:left; text-indent:-.25in;} @list l1:level6 {mso-level-tab-stop:3.0in; mso-level-number-position:left; text-indent:-.25in;} @list l1:level7 {mso-level-tab-stop:3.5in; mso-level-number-position:left; text-indent:-.25in;} @list l1:level8 {mso-level-tab-stop:4.0in; mso-level-number-position:left; text-indent:-.25in;} @list l1:level9 {mso-level-tab-stop:4.5in; mso-level-number-position:left; text-indent:-.25in;} ol {margin-bottom:0in;} ul {margin-bottom:0in;} -->

When I forward I get the normal text eg:

Van: "XX YY" <XX.YY@ZZ.com>
Datum: 17 maart 2009 10:43:12 GMT+01:00
Aan: "DD QQ" <DD.QQ@zz.com>,
Onderwerp: RE: Chrysler Neon: Movies

This is when I put the preferences in "plaine text" in stead of RTF.

Is there a solution?

Is this happening only when you reply to a specific message, or messages from a certain sender (or group of senders)? If so, it's probably some malformed code in the message(s) you're replying to, and when Mail replies it includes that in the quoted text. Try only selecting just part of the message text before replying. (You'll also need to make sure that in Mail -> Preferences -> Composing, the "Include selected text ..." radio button is selected.)

If that's not it, I'm out of ideas!

Yeah, I'm getting the same problem and it is driving me nuts. To be honest, I don't really want to use Plain Text as the email format but it seems to be the only way to send emails to Windows Outlook users at work without the results getting mangled. However, the addition of CSS information at the top of the email only seems to be happening when replying to HTML emails (no surprise) and I am sure this is only a recent phenomenon, perhaps starting after the last OS X update (10.5.6) or the installation of Safari 4 Beta.
