Problem re: .m3u live stream

Hi All,

I'm having some difficulties opening up live radio on a website. Previously (as in, only two days ago), it would open up normally, through QuickTime Player. Now it downloads as a link to the desktop as a .m3u file, goes onto iTunes, after which it does something (it "thinks"), and then it just stops! It doesn't play anything, it doesn't do anything else. I even fiddled with the settings and changed QuickTime to open up .m3u files automatically. Now, when I go back to change those settings, Firefox still opens up a new tab, attempting to play the live radio.

Help! What happened between two days ago and now?

Thank you!

Perhaps you could provide us with the URL and we could see if we can play it. It could be they changed the stream format, it could be they stopped actually streaming, it could be your computer...

Have you tried opening the stream with [VLC media player|http://www.videolan.org/vlc> - general media player that plays just about anything.

It certainly solves the problem to the extent that VLC can open the file, but doesn't explain why it would stop working through QuickTime.

And now every time I open the website and the link via Firefox, I get a new tab with QuickTime attempting to open it up (even though I've changed the settings to Default, as previously, in the hope it'll change things back to the way they were).

A few hiccups with the VLC option, though - it plays for a bit, then it stops. Could be just traffic, but, meh, who knows?

Some progress, nonetheless.
