    Hello SW:
I recently got an Applie iPod Classic 120 which came with crummy earbuds (except the sound is good) and some stores have said lots of people complain about these particular buds for the same reasons. Maybe my ears are too small, but the darn things fall out and they also hurt! I've been shopping around for replacement earphones and tried the ones that hook around your ear but heck, I wear glasses and those things are also too big, sit too high and are fiddly. Just wondering what you finally came up with in the way of earbuds and are you happy with them? Also, do you have a case for your iPod and which kind? I like to go walking with mine and prefer a belt-clip style with easy access to changing songs. What's your choice?
    Thanks,
    Also confused and frustrated.

If that picture is showing this model

then it is the newest version. It comes with three pairs of different size tips. The intent of the in-ear earbuds is for them to fit snugly in the ear canal (like ear plugs). One of the three tips sizes should work for most people, but I have not way of knowing if they will work for you.

The in-ear earbuds are used differently. Normal earbuds just sit there, with space around the earbud and the ear. The in-ear type go further in, and you must fit it so that there is no space between the ear canal and the earbud tips. If you get the correct size tip, the air-tight fit will keep them from falling out. If it's loose, they will fall out easily.

The air-tight fit also blocks out external sound. I just got a pair of in-ear Sennheisser earbuds on sale, and they sound pretty good, mostly because they block out noise so I can play them at a lower volume and hear more details in the music.

I have both on those Apple Headphones.
The first picture, (first gen ear buds) don't fit snugly and the base is lousy. Also they don't do the highs very well.
The new ones with remote and mic, produce great high and low notes, fit in my ear comferbale and the clicker is very handy.

Any word if Apple will support the full functionality of these in-ear headphones for the iPhone? Right now the volume up/down buttons on the headphones don't work with the iPhone but all other functionality works. Seems like a simple firmware update to me.
