OS X Tiger and The Gimp

I have installed the software The Gimp but when trying to open it, it asks for apple's X11, I found it on the Mac OS X Tiger install DVD and correctly installed apple's X11, but The Gimp goes on asking for Apple's X11. Does anybody know why ? Many thanks by advance, BF

It sounds like you did not install it correctly. Do you have an application called X11 in the Utilities folder (/Applications/Utilities)? Does it run?

The correct way to install X11 is run the installer named "Optional Installs" on the Tiger DVD. If you simply searched for a package with "x11" in the name, then you probably got the wrong one.

I don't know if this is the reason but your Mac OS X (10.4.8) is an older version of Tiger than specified on http://gimp.lisanet.de/Website/Download.html

Update using the 10.4.11 combo update link for:
