EW libraries using Kontakt3 in Logic 8??

I have various EW libraries (Colossus, Symphonic Orch Platinum, Garritan Pers Orchestra) on an ext fw800 drive on my G5 PPC running Kompakt player...

Now I have a Mac Pro intel 3.0Ghz I want to switch the drive to this and use Kontakt 3 (which is on my system) to run these instead of using PLAY (as kompakt isnt intel compatible?)

I have started the switch with installing Garritan Personal Orchestra (this uses the old kontakt player)

I have installed this fine and it said authorised with the old kontakt player, but now can't seem to get Kontakt3 to look for this library??

I have spoke to EW and Garritan and they said I need Kontakt Player 2 to use this to point to Kontakt3?

Now I have a Kontakt Player 2 installed as part of my "The Elements" AU that i bought - can I use this???

Anyone else switched their EW libraries from PPC to intel??

Help!

PS : I can get kontakt3 to see the drive and the library but only each sample per keyboard, so AltoFluteA*3 which is played as one sample, I cant seem to see the full mutli-sampled banks??

Mac Pro 3.0Ghz - 10GB -, Mac OS X (10.5.5)

I'm not sure why you can't see the EW libraries from within Kontakt 3, as it works fine here.

Make sure you are loading an instrument. When you select "load" from with Kontakt 3 (found under the floppy drive icon), you should be able to navigate to the folders where your EW samples are stored. On the top level of that folder, you will see .nks files, but of you scroll around, you should see an "instruments" folder, where you will see the instruments that you used to load within the EW player itself. These will load correctly into Kontakt 3.

Also, the new EW PLAY engine is pretty cool, and works very well within Logic. I would suggest at least looking into upgrading some of your old EW libraries to the PLAY versions. EW has a special going right now, where many of them can be upgraded for $99 a piece. It might be worth doing that, at least with the ones you use the most, because Kontakt 3, while it normally works fine within Logic, also can have serious issues. Just be aware of that.

Thanks for this

See where you mean now...

i have kontakt3 open and clicked on the "floppy" icon. I then put the Colossus Library in the Quicklist (from the floppy icon) so the full Colossus Library opens

BUT i get the

"The content your trying to load is not registered!"

(Please be sure to start the application at least once)

Now I did register this as you have to do this in the Registration Tool which said "success" your now regsitered etc etc

I can't find the kompakt player on my Mac Pro to open "at least once" ??

Any ideas?

UPDATE _

Found the Colossus Kompakt is in the East West Folder, and i can launch it on my Intel Mac in standalone - It also can load up the library from my drive (ext fw800) so it has found this!!

When it opens and loads the sounds fine, it also get a splash screen saying

"This copy of Colossus is not yet Registered - Please use the Authorisation tool"

(I already did this) but when I go to click on the Authorisation tool it pops up

EW Colossus is successfully authorized Now you can close the application"

But the OK splash screen doesnt disappear - after pressing ok it stays?

Surely loading up Kompakt and the Colossus library in standalone and playing a sound counts as Kompakt being launched just once?? :headbang:

Thanks for this workaround..

I tried it as it says : If you can load an instrument in the stand alone mode in the respective player (Intakt/Kompakt/Kontakt Player 1), but in KONTAKT it still does not work, please do the following:

Attached you'll find a file called Content.Plist (below in the Attachment section).
Unzip this file and put the resulting file into the following folder:

Macintosh HD/Users/~your username~/Library/Preference

But after doing this I still get the same error when in Kontakt3??

i dont seem to have a folder though as above - I have the folder not in Library but:

Macintosh HD/myusername~/Preference

This is where I put this .plist file and still no luck??

if you ever have any problems I would always suggest calling NI whenever possible,
they will sort out any issues right there.

I still use EW libs in K3 as (for me at least Play has been a complete CPU hog, using at least 20-30 % more cpu than K3 with the same instruments loaded )

nothing EW have done so far has fixed this problem, I would be very careful spending money on Play updates until Play is optimized, don't take my word for it order the demo DVD and try for yourself (you have to pay for that by the way)
