I have been looking all over for these answers and haven't been able to find it. I wanted to know how many or long the call history will go back? Second, does this call log get backed up when you sync it with iTunes and then erase old entries on the phone? I backed up my iphone a couple of days ago and was looking for old numbers in the call log but it only goes back to around the time I synced it. Please help and thanks!

I did find an answer to part of my question on KB. Yes iTunes does backup your call history when you sync it. But didn't see if it deletes some of your call history on the phone. So wanted to see if anyone knew how long/how many the iphone stores and if it deletes your call history after a backup. Thanks. The article on what it backs up is

'Recents' seems to store the last 50 calls (more if you count multiple calls to the same number on the same day, which are stored as a single 'line' in the list). The call history does get backed up (see this kbase article), but the backup process does not erase the list from the phone. The fact that your history goes back to around the time of your last sync is a coincidence.
