USB Memory Stick - Hidden Files

When I plug in my USB memory stick, even though it shows empty, there are hidden file son it which have not been deleted. The only way I can see these files to delete them is to plug it into a pc which shows all the files so I can delete. But how can I clear the stick on my mac? I have tried the Disk Utilty to no avail.

Any one? I am also having this problem. I've got an 8GB stick down to almost a 6GB stick with what I think are a bunch of Windows files. I used the stick to transfer video files from my mac to a Tricaster. I even re-formatted it to the Mac OS Extended and I still can't get at them.

It's weird, the display in Disk Utility shows a purple section that I can't change when I try to partition the drive.

Mine is an 8GB Kingston Traveller if that helps.

Thanks in advance.
