Not Authorised to play protected content

OK, I have an Apple TV. Until this past weekend I believed it to be fantastic. Now I’m ready to set fire to it. Saturday evening I did as I have the last 5 or so Saturdays and bought the latest BSG on iTunes it started downloading and I went to be looking forward to the 2nd to last episode. Sunday I woke up went to play the episode and got an error “The device is not authorized to play this content” I tried rebooting, re syncing, reset to factory default update and re sync, all to no avail. The show WILL play on my computer but not on the apple TV. In fact no protected content will play on the Apple TV. Unprotected content plays fine. Here are a few other symptoms and some steps I’ve tried.

1. I cannot connect to YouTube on the Apple TV, it’s fine on the PC. Same with Flickr.
2. When I try to manually log in to iTunes Store I get a message indicating bad password or account not found. I’ve tried enough times and double checked my password. I can log in to the same account on my Mac
3. The new “Test Network connection” feature of 2.3.1 fails saying “Cannot connect to Apple”
4. I CAN update though. So the Apple TV is getting out to the internet.
5. There was an issue with my Paypal Account and the payment for the latest episode didn’t go through. But I can still play it on my Mac.
6. I’ve tried De Authorizing and Re Authorizing my Mac to my iTunes Account
7. Used a different DNS server. Including and Internal one and 4.2.2.2 (an Open DNS server I’ve used before.
8. Tried hard coding the IP and Using DHCP
9. Switched from Cable Modem back to DSL and back to Cable modem.
10. Tried Wireless and Ethernet (the whole time it connects to my network without issues.)
11. Rebuilt my iTunes DB.
12. Moved the protected content to another Machine and Synced the ATV only to that.
13. Created a new iTunes account on another PC, Factory reset the ATV connected to the New iTunes and bought another copy of a show. Still can’t play.

It’s almost like the Apple TV has been black listed. I’m at a loss. I’m going to give it another day or so to see if the payment issue had something to do with it but I can’t think it does since I tried it with another account.

Any ideas?
