Mail shrinks size of photos attached

When I attach a photo to an Mail message, either from within iphoto 09 or in Mail directly, the attachment is always smaller than what I am attaching so the the photo appears smaller in the email message than I would like. For example, trying to attach a 660 KB jpeg photo produces a 111 KB attachment. By contrast, when I attach the same photo to an Entourage message I get a 659 attachment and the photo displays on-screen at the desired size (i.e., larger). Is there some way I can stop Mail from shrinking my photo attachments? (BTW the photo size I choose when attaching photos from within mail has no effect on the on-screen size of the photos attached.)

I am embarrassed to say that I figured out the answer to my own question. When you attach a photo in Mail an "Image Size" pull down menu appears in the lower right portion of the message (I had missed that) and from it you can choose "Small", "Medium", "Large" or "Actual Size". Your choice is 'sticky' in the sense that if you attach a photo and choose 'Small", the next time you attach a photo it will be at "Small" image size until you choose another image size from the pull down menu.
