Sorting contacts by company instead of name?

I have had a few times where I need to contact a person from a certain company. I could not remember the name of the person but knew the company name. Seeing that I have a lot of contacts on my phone it takes forever to scroll through the list and click on every person I don't recognize to see if they work for the company. Is there a way to view by company or search by company so I don't waste a lot of time scrolling through my contacts? What would be great as well is some sort of grouping of contacts ie business, personal, family etc. Is there a way to do this?

Ok i've tested this myself if you add a contact with no contact name just a business name listed and then save it, it appears in your contact list as the business. Now re-edit that same contact and add the name of the person you know there and save, when you go back to the contact list it will still be listed as the business name not the contact person (keep an eye on the icon where you can attach a picture of the contact it will still show as an office block e.g. a business not an individual which is represented by that head and shoulders silhouette)
maybe not the perfect solution but i use this for all business contacts

There is no way to search anything other than name in the Contacts app (v3.0 will correct that, this summer). Contacts groups can be set up in Address Book on a Mac, and they are maintained on the iPhone, but that can't be done in Windows.

But, in the meantime, check out these App Store apps:

Acutally you can search by company name. I just did a test. Just enter the first few letter of the company name and it should list everything with those letters. The only problem is that when you type in the company name and there is a contact person listed, it will display the contact person. If there is no contact person, it will list the company name.

One way to group, I read, is that you could group using Outlook. Then it will transfer to your iphone when you sync. I never tried this myself.

There are some apps that can do grouping. I am using "GroupHug". I think this cost either .99 or 1.99. I am also using "Contact Tool". This will sort your contacts in various ways (Zip Code, City, Name, Company, etc). I think this cost 1.99. Both programs are very good.
