I just got a new hard drive installed on my old iMac G5. When I first started it up, I was asked for a user name and password. I entered it but when OS X (Leopard) started up, it again asked me to log in using the user name and password. I entered the same ones I had just set but it doesn't recognize them (the log in box shakes) and I seem to have no way to access the desktop.
How can I reset the username and password from the login page? I even tried to re-install Leopard but it isn't even recognizing the CD.
iMac, MacBook Pro, iMac G5,
Mac OS X (10.5.6),
iPhone 3G, iPod Classic (160 GB)
Thank you. Resetting the PRAM doesn't clear the password -- it just brings me back to the username/password login box. I need to completely reset the computer like it was new out of the box so I can re-establish the username and password.
No because I don't need to copy any files to or from the computer -- I just want to set it up like it was brand new. I want to wipe out the usernames and passwords on the computer and start afresh.
