iPhone not recognized in Windows 2000

Hi all,

Unfortunately my work's PC still running under Windows 2000

I started my iPhone's experience by trying to install iTunes 8.1 under Windows 2000 but it failed

So I searched for a solution and found the following link

http://support.apple.com/downloads/iTunes7_3_2_for_Windows2000

which is an official iTunes setup for Windows 2000

I downloaded iTunes 7.3.2 under Windows 2000 successfully

and managed to get iTunes running smoothly

the problem is when I connected my iPhone 3G 2.2.1 to my PC, the PC didn't recognize it!

and couldn't find a driver over the net!

I have no problem at all with my iPhone at home under Windows Vista

but I have to connect it to my PC at work to (Sync/Charge) my iPhone

help please ('',)

Well iTunes does a lot more than just sync an iPhone so yeah it was available when win2000 was released and it still works the same way it did then, developers need to choose a cutoff date for backwards compatibility at some stage and when it comes to computers 8years is a long time your talking three OS's multiple service packs etc.. etc.. and to tell you the truth i don't even think win2000 had support for USB2.0 in it at all (would have to double check) but if it didn't and microsoft haven't added support for it, even if the earlier version of iTunes was programmed to work with an iPhone the OS wouldn't be able to use the USB2 port that is required assuming that the machine's hardware had been upgraded to include one which wouldn't be that likely either at least not without having updated the OS at the same time and then the problem would be solved anyway (and my rant's finished 😉 )
