iTunes AND iPod crashes whenever i plug in my iPod

No idea, but I'm having the same problem. Today I loaded music on to my ipod and since then its been freezing and just generally slow. I connected to do a restore and itunes froze in the middle. Now whenever I connect my iPod every program I have running crashes. If I find a solution I'll let you know

having the same problem started today. start iTunes fine. as soon as i plug in iPod iTunes crashes and a msg pops up saying iTunes has stopped working. if I plug in iPod before opening iTunes, iTunes opens for 10 seconds before the msg pops up. what the heck is going on? Help!

yeah i just notice my comp freezes when i plug in my ipod and its useless when i plug it into itunes. any one know how to fix this?

I have the same problem too. iTunes works fine till I dock-in my 160GB Classic iPod and then it crashes with a window saying "iTunes have stopped working." It is the same when I dock my iPod first, then try to start iTunes.
I uninstalled and re-installed with the latest iTunes, but still have the same problem. It is as if iTunes and my iPod are at conflict with each other.

It's more than that with mine. 120 GB Ipod Classic. 50+ GBs of video. I put an MP4 file on there no problem. Then, I eject it normally. All of a sudden, my stuff disappears. It doesn't detect movies, music...but the files are there and occupying the space according to Settings. I plug my Ipod back into my computer and Itunes starts up and freezes. I can't restore my Ipod, I can't do a reset...I only had it for 3 months since Christmas and this is the third time that its happened. I still got the box and original packaging. I'm planning to go to the Apple store nearest me and wonder what the heck is going on. All I can say is go to the Apple store nearest you and see if they can get it restored for you (third time in my case), or try to get a defective exchange.
