I just got a refurbished alluminum 13 inch macbook. I just got it in the mail today and read the whole instuction packet for the answer to my problem. When i press the power button my macbook doesn't turn on. It makes a beeping sound and the sleep light flashes every four seconds. If I hold down the power button for several seconds it will stop. I haven't even been able to turn it on yet because every time I push the power button it does this. What should I do?

Macbook, Mac OS X (10.5)

I agree with Tom in London!

I don't know what your situation is, but if you're going to purchase refurbished hardware, you really should do it from a reputable dealer such as Apple.

For example, when you buy a refurbished Mac from Apple, it comes to you with the same 1-year factory warranty that you get with a new Mac. Plus, you can even purchase the extended protection plan with these refurbished Macs.

However, as Tom said, be careful not to attempt anything that may void any warranty terms, assuming yours came with a warranty.

Unfortunately, there are some unscrupulous sellers out there, knowingly selling a damaged or defective product and offering no service/no returns. It's really too bad. Caveat emptor!

Best of luck -- hope you are able to either exchange your machine or get your money back.
