Is now the time to buy FCP?

I own the original Final Cut Studio. I just bought a new Mac Pro eight core. I'm considering the latest version but don't know if the timing is right. When was the last time FCP was updated? Buy now or wait? The upgrade from FCP Studio is $499 from Apple.
