iPhone keyboard won't let me type the word "fixes"

When I try to type the word "fixes", the iPhone (3G, with iPhone OS 2.2) keyboard won't let me type the word "fixes". If I hold down my finger for the last letter, and move it left and right, I can see that it is refusing to allow "S" to be typed. It switches between "A" and "D".

I have seen other examples of this in the past, where the keyboard simply refuses to type some letters, but never on a common English word before.

Has anyone found a way around this, other than accepting the wrong letter, backspacing, and re-typing?

Cheers,
Will.

All this time, I thought it was me...I couldn't for the life of me type my daughter's name, Caitlin, into the phone. I would always get C-A-I-R-L-I-N. Again, thought it was just me not being able to hit that key right, though I don't really have a problem with anything else. Then this weekend, I finally tried to force the phone to type it right by trying to slide my finger to the "T", and it was completely skipped over. I went back and forth from "R" to "Y" several times. Nope, the "T" refused to be typed. Now that I know it's a confirmed bug, I feel a little bit better about my iPhone typing skills.

I'm no math wiz, but I would think it at least has some part to do with the predictive typing math used. I was reading a thread the other day about where you type determining the success of training your iPhone keyboard - i.e., Notes won't train your keyboard. Safari will. If you have a word you "have" to get right every time, like a name, type it in the Safari search ... When you correct it there, it will log it in the keyboard learning files.

I'm not sure if awkward math constitutes a bug, but perhaps. I'm sure iPhone OS 3.0 will correct a lot of this. Fun times.
