Hi Old Toad,
I made a mistake purchasing RapidWeaver. RapidWeaver only opens and uploads RapidWeaver compatible sites. What a rip-off. The guys at the apple store didn't even know that RapidWeaver was a proprietary platform.

Back to your suggestions. I've never used anything but FrontPage to publish my website. I've only recently arrrived to the Mac world.

I have my own site that is not iWeb compliant. www.stylesupportmidi.com

1. I need an editor of some sort. A WYSIWYG platform would be great.
2. That same editor needs to have a FTP module for uploading built in.
3. I've have no idea how to publish to a folder as you've suggested.
4. The iWeb platform sounds as though it may work for the FTP part. I'll look around there to see if I can get the hang of that.
Any suggestions would be helpful!
Thanks
Gary

I suppose rapidweaver is only a ripoff if your not going to use it, but there are many people that would buy your serial number form you.

I have moved to rapidweaver, because any iweb over iweb 06 doesnt allow my customers to view in IE and after twenty complaints in a couple of hours from people saying that my iweb site was crashing their pc's and not loading (after i'd moved to iweb08) I decided to look elsewhere for software

Although I find rapidweaver more difficult than iweb, there are lots of advantages of using it, at the moment in order to add metatags and img tags, I have to do this every time I make a change in iweb by exporting it to dreamweaver adding in the html.

If I want to add html I have to do the same, iweb snippetts didnt work on many of my customers IE setups

Iweb is a simple tool for making websites, and dont get me wrong I love it....if only I could get the features I get with rapidweaver into iweb and my customers dont complain that my site crashed ther pc's I'd be really happy

hi timothylance

I upgraded from iweb06 to iweb08 within 24 hours of loading the website online (i use 1and1) to publish my website, I got a ton of complaints about the site crashing or hanging....

When iweb08 first came out, I had the problem and went back to iweb06, however I forgot about the issues of crashing/hanging for IE users and after 12 months redesigned the site in iweb08 again

again within 24 hours I got over 10 complaints, so I changed it back to the iweb06 and rang the clients that had complained and they said it was great no hanging or anything

I can only go by experience but each time I have tried to use iweb08, i get complaint, while using iweb06 I get no complaints....so it was a clear cut case

However I was getting fed up with having to add meta tags and other html after exporting, so I bought rapidweaver after reading the reports

I struggle thats its not wYSIWUG and doesnt look as good with ie as it does in safari

With iweb06 I dont see any difference with windows ie or safari

I need to be able to do what I do in iweb, but being able to have more functions, such as contact us pages, guestbooks and text flowing from one side to the other that seem so easy to do in rapidweaver
