Can the iphone save my work schedule? Looking to jump on the iphone train.

Hello all,

My work schedule is a four days on in a row(14hrs per day), then four days off. This will repeat for the whole year.

Thanks for your time.

THe iphone has a calender application that you can sync your calendar events work or not to the iphone thru the computer. And since days are 24 hours in length then you should be able to schedule 14 hour days work days into the iphone calendar application. 😉

I tried to setup this with the gmail calendar online, but it does not fill the calendar year out properly.

example.

i work march 31, april 1,2.3..off the next four days. then work. I have not seen a program that can fill this out for the rest of the year. without me going in everyday to set as a work day manually.

Can this iphone app do this?

thanks for your responce

Some calendars will support repeats for specified days in a week from one event, but that's handling multiple weekly events and your requirement is for repeats on an 8 day cycle. The only way I know how to set up that kind of schedule is to schedule the first 4 days individually with an 8 day repeat on each individual entry. For that your calendar needs to support configureable repeats. If the Google calendar does, it's easy but it does mean you have to create 4 repeating events, one for each of your 4 working days.

The iPhone app can't do this, but it will pick up such schedules from whatever calendar it syncs with if that calendar supports that kind of repeat.

So check if Google lets you repeat events on a cycle of every x number of days. If so, create an event on each of March 32, April 1, 2, and 3 and set each to repeat every 8 days. Specify your end date separately each time—that can be the same day, such as December 31, for each event if you're doing a single calendar year—and simply sync with your iPhone.

Creating 4 separate events takes time but you may be able to reduce that by copying the first event to subsequent days. You'll need to do that 3 times, once for each of the other 3 days, but doing that is likely to be quicker than creating new events on each day.

If Google calendar doesn't allow that kind of repeat cycle, it's a matter of finding a desktop calendar that you can sync with the iPhone which does allow it. I know iCal on my Mac does but I'm unfamiliar with the Windows options.

If your schedule is to be this way for the remainder of the calendar year, you only need to fill in the days, exactly the way you're stating, and have it repeated on a weekly basis. You're even allowed to specify your start date and end date. Those who say it can't be done, don't know the same iPhone as I. I have done this for numerous events. P.S.. You will have to perform this sequence for each day.
