Ipod nano 5th generation won't connect to my Ps3 or Xbox 360

I know that something like this has probably never been posted, but I don't have the time to check. When I tried to connect my ipod nano to my Playstation 3, my ipod recognized the fact it was connected but my ps3, yet didn't recognize my ipod. But when I attempted to play music off an old sansa mp3 player on my ps3 it worked. Any suggestions? Also when I connected my nano to my Xbox 360, my 360 was able to play music and view photo's, but not videos. Any one else have similar issues?
